After extensive research, Green Home has found that Pacific Rim creates the finest in affordable, sustainably made furniture. We are proud to offer their hand-crafted merchandise, which is made entirely from Western Maple grown in conciously managed forests in the Pacific Northwest. To highlight the natural beauty of this distinctive hardwood, Pacific Rim hand-rubs each piece with a finish of tung oil and pure beeswax. Enduring quality and simple elegance are hallmarks of thier comtemporary American style. Pacific Rim furniture is built entirely in Eugene, Oregon and is guaranteed to be free of defects in both materials and workmanship.
Sustainability
Green Home endourses Pacific Rim's practices, because they are comitted to providing a procut that is made with minimal environmental impact while at the same time making products that are constructed to withstand generations of use. They strive to use each and every foot of maple, and donate the smallest fall-off to local schools, community art centers, and low-income families. Recycling bins can be found all over their offices, and extra sawdust gets recycled into compost by a local company.

Awareness
The definition of 'green certified' in the Pacific Northwest is constantly improving. The forest industry must strike a healthy balance between the environment, society, and economic pressures. Pacific Rim closely moniters the descision makers here in the Pacific Northwest as well as those in Washington, as the definition of 'green' becomes workable. The Western Maple used in our products is actually harvested as a secondary item during softwood harvests. Our hardwood supplier has recieved a certificate to sell "Chain of Custody" products under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)rules as administered by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) for their softwood harvests. Although this is not the ultimate answer, it does begin the process of insuring that a percentage of the forests are being managed with an eye to the future.
